Configure macOS for secure WiFi access

The following instructions will enable you to connect your Apple macOS device to eduroam, the secure WiFi network.

Configuration instructions

  1. Click on the WiFi signal icon at the top-right of your Mac's screen.
  2. Select "eduroam".
  3. Mode: Leave this set to 'Automatic'.
  4. User Name: Enter your username with @ed.ac.uk at the end, e.g. "s10987654@ed.ac.uk".
  5. Password: Enter the password associated with this account.
  6. Ensure "Remember this network" is ticked.
  7. Click "Join".
  8. Click "Connect".
  9. You may be asked to trust a certificate :
    1. Issued by GeoTrust TLS RSA CA G1
    2. Server/Common name radius01.is.ed.ac.uk
    3. Certificate thumbprints should match:
      1. SHA-256 6B:4D:34:4A:BC:1B:5F:90:F8:8B:4F:6E:30:BC:A6:F1:DB:AB:07:7E:E8:82:60:33:FB:ED:2D:93:C6:B4:B3:AB
      2. SHA-1 CE:9E:63:61:70:93:5D:49:F6:E0:6E:EB:AD:97:B3:4A:70:EC:ED:73
  10. You should tick the box to always trust the certificate.

Your device should now connect automatically to the eduroam WiFi network whenever it is range.
