Expand all Collapse all Edinburgh Award Case Study The SharePoint Solutions Service team share an insight into delivering a solution that required a quick turnaround - given the first COVID-19 UK lockdown in 2020 - for staff based in the Careers Service who coordinate the Edinburgh Award across the institution. A 'virtual award ceremony' solution was requires to replace the in-person Edinburgh Awards ceremony, providing a way to present students with their certificates from the University during lockdown. The SharePoint team used Microsoft Power Automate through SharePoint Online to allow for a total of 1, 223 Edinburgh Award cerificates to be automatically generated and emailed to the year's recipients. Pair Up in Edinburgh Case Study Another solution that required a quick turn around due to the COVID-19 pandamic, and its second lockdown over Winder 2020/21 - for staff based in Student Systems and Administration who coordinated a programme of activities for students staying in Edinburgh over the winter break. In order to combat a feeling of isolation among those staying in Edinburgh over the winter holidays period, an initiative called Pair Up in Edinburgh was organised to match up volunteer staff and alumni with current students to meet for an outdoor activity such as a walk, run or a cycle in the city. The solution, developed by the SharePoint team, consisted of using Microsoft Forms to gather volunteer availability and student requests for bookings. The data was stored in SharePoint, and a SharePoint site was used to present a heat map of optional timeslots on the frontend. Find out more about Pair Up in Edinburgh Case Study. Student Ambassador Project Case Study The SharePoint Solutions Service team share an insight into delivering an end-to-end work coordination solution built using Microsoft Power Platform for the University’s Student Ambassador Scheme. Student Recruitment and Admissions team at the University enlisted the help of the SharePoint Solutions Service team to develop a platform to coordinate the detailing and then fair distribution of shift work within the Student Ambassador Scheme. In order to deliver this solution, the SharePoint Solutions Service team used Microsoft Power Platform to develop three Power Apps, supported by Microsoft Lists within a dedicated SharePoint site. Industrial Action Case Study The SharePoint Solutions Service team share an insight into delivering a new SharePoint site for staff providing information and guidance on the 2021/22 industrial action, as well as incorporating an employee declaration form developed using SPFx React alongside Power Automate. The SharePoint Solutions Service was given the task to create an information repository, FAQ style, to inform and support staff throughout the period of the industrial action and to asnwer queries staff have about it. Moreover, this needed to be a re-usable service in case of future industrial actions. SharePoint Solution Service imbedded SPFx React webpart in the SharePoint site to develop the strike action employee a declaration form, with pre-populated employment information.
