Overview and Access

What is BusinessObjects. How to request access, and how to log in.

Overview

SAP BusinessObjects (aka 'BI Suite') is one of the main operational reporting tools here at the University. With it, staff can find a range of officially provided reports to meet their business needs, or they can create their own reports from a mix of University datasets and their own local data, e.g. from an Excel spreadsheet.

BusinessObjects has two main components:

BI Launchpad

This is what you first see when logging into BusinessObjects

  • The entry point into BusinessObjects
  • A portal to manage, find, and organise reports
  • Includes a personal folder for storing your own reports, and an Inbox for receiving reports sent by other users of the system
Web Intelligence

When you click to open a report, the Web Intelligence report viewer launches. This is where you can view, edit, create and export reports.

  • A fully-featured report viewer and designer
  • View standard reports produced by business area experts
  • Create reports from multiple sources, including Excel file upload
  • Excellent formatting, charting options

Requesting access

To request a user account for BusinessObjects, you must first contact the content provider that supplies the reports and data you wish to view and use. If approved, an account will be setup for you.

The following page provides contact details for the main content providers in BusinessObjects.

Requesting Access to University Datasets

Note that while ISG maintains the BusinessObjects platform, ISG does not process access requests for data and reports managed by other content providers.

Logging in

To log into BusinessObjects, please visit the Reporting + Analytics channel in MyEd (direct link).

Then, click the blue BI Launchpad button to begin the login process.

You will then be asked to enter characters from your secret word (this is step is called the EASE 'second challenge')

How to set your secret word

If you have never set, or have forgotten, your secret word, you will need to re-register for EASE. During this process you will be able to set a new secret word:
