A Project Manager's perspective Miro is a great new platform that has recently integrated into Information Services. Supporting and improving collaboration with colleagues, and bringing information together in one place, Miro provides opportunities that have not been available in other similar whiteboard-platforms including Microsoft Whiteboard. Brittany Drake is a project manager in the People and Money Service with a wealth of experience using Miro. Collaborative working is part of her daily job, so Miro was a very useful addition when working with others and managing projects. Recently, Brittany was involved in the Defect Management Project, using Miro as a giant whiteboard to display the overall end-to-end requirements to others. Part of the project was to create a new Jira Project, where Brittany and her colleagues used Miro to manage the specific Jira requirements. From this project, Brittany said that her experience with Miro was great! It helped to manage and simplify the extensive collaboration involved in managing the project, as the ideas shared can be viewed and edited by all who can access the board. Overall, this made the project more efficient, Brittany noted, as the team no longer have to work on separate documents with all ideas and information being found in one place. Miro is an exceptional collaborative tool, and it has been a wonderful experience working with the service on our project. Especially utilising Miro to enhance our teamwork and productivity.' Brittany Drake - Project Manager One of the great things about Miro is the extensive range of functions that make it a very user-friendly experience. For instance, there hundreds of different icons showing the functions of various inbuilt templates, flowcharts and tables. This saves the user so much time, templates no longer have to be manually created, as well as creating a very user-friendly and simple experience. Its bright colours and simple language make the service much more accessible to a wider variety of people, something that Brittany found Microsoft Whiteboard, a competitor, lacks in. Because of this user-friendly and beneficial service for collaborative work Brittany has found, students could benefit in tutorials and other collaborative and discussion-based work. It could play a useful role in organising different topics of conversation that then helps to drive conversations, bringing ideas together visually. Across the board, Miro is an innovative and exciting way of interacting with colleagues for both students and staff. Brittany’s experience of Miro is extremely positive, recommending it to anyone who is involved in collaborative work and uses multiple live documents in different formats. So have a look, experience its functions, and spread the word of Miro around! This article was published on 2024-10-08
