Availability and entitlement

All staff, students, visitors and functional accounts that have a presence in the Central Authorisation Service will have a presence within Shibboleth.

However only those who are entitled to electronic journals will have the entitlement information held in the Central Authorisation Service required by those Service Providers.

Members of staff, associates and visitors

All members of staff will be present in the Central Authorisation Service and thus Shibboleth. Additionally staff will have the additional entitlement information required to access electronic journals.

Visitors registered via the Visitor Registration System may be entitled to Shibboleth and electronic journals but these are at the discretion of the School/Department.

If you are a Visitor account and feel you require access to either Shibboleth or electronic journals you will need to contact your sponsoring School or Department.

New students

Student applicants exist in the Central Authorisation Service and thus are entitled to Shibboleth. Access to electronic journals will be enabled once they make the transition to student status.

Current students

Current matriculated students are entitled to Shibboleth and electronic journals.

Alumni

Alumni are entitled to the Central Authorisation Service so will exist in Shibboleth. They are granted access to e-resources (not just journals) via their Shibboleth login where a publisher has allowed this.
