Changing access arrangements

Door Managers can control access to the doors under their management using an online Access Management System (AMS).

Clearances

Door access is managed through "clearances". At its simplest, a clearance controls one or more doors.

Cards are given clearances, and a card which has a particular clearance can open the doors controlled by that clearance.

A clearance may apply only for a limited time - e.g. 0800-1800 Monday to Friday. Doors may have more than one clearance - this allows different people to have access at different times.

A clearance is managed by one or more Door Managers, who are authorised to specify which cards are given that clearance. If you are a Door Manager, you will have been informed of the names of the clearances (and thus the doors) you control.

Access Management System

Door Managers can give clearances to cards and remove clearances from cards using the web-based Access Management System (AMS).

You will be required to log in using EASE. Once logged in, you can manage cards and clearances. Online help is available to guide you through the process.

If you are a new Door Manager requiring authorisation to manage certain clearances, please ask an existing Door Manager for those clearances to contact Information Services.

Door Managers Only

Please note that Information Services will politely decline to give clearances to (or remove clearances from) cards, except at the request of an authorised Door Manager who is not able to use the AMS.
