Fusion rooms in Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) are primarily used for hybrid teaching, allowing multiple remote participants to join simultaneously. While the surrounding screens are not intended to mirror the main presentation screen, they can be used to share presentation content during in-person-only teaching. The Fusion rooms in EFI are designed to support direct presentation and collaborative group work for classes that combine both online and in-person students. The screens around the rooms form part of the Microsoft Teams Room Trolleys (MTRs), which enable multiple simultaneous calls with different remote participants.Although the rooms may look similar to teaching studios found elsewhere across the University, they operate differently. The screens are not designed to act as repeaters of the main presentation screen. However, we recognise that some users may wish to share their presentation across these screens when delivering teaching to an in-person-only class.
