Configure Windows 10 + 11 for eduroam Wi-Fi access

The following instructions will enable you to connect your Windows device to eduroam, the secure Wi-Fi network.

Configuration instructions

  1. Click the Wi-fi icon in the System tray next to the clock (bottom right corner).
  2. Click the > symbol next to the Wi-Fi symbol to view the available Wi-Fi Networks
  3. Locate eduroam in the list of networks and click it.
  4. Make sure Connect automatically is ticked and then click CONNECT
  5. You will now be prompted for your username and password. Enter your username as your username plus @ed.ac.uk, e.g. "s10987654@ed.ac.uk".
  6. Enter your WiFi password and click Connect
  7. You will be will be asked if you expect to find eduroam in this location. Only connect if you are on campus where you expect to find eduroam.
  8. You should check the certificate is correct by clicking on Show certificate details, the details must match :
    1. Issued to: radius01.is.ed.ac.uk
    2. Issued by:  DigiCert Global G2 TLS RSA SHA256 2020 CA1
    3. Certificate thumbprints should match:
      1. SHA-1 4A 31 76 B9 08 EC 1A DE 05 5D 01 A5 E1 EA F6 93 6E FF 90 9E
  9. If you are happy with the certificate then click Connect.
  10. Your device should show "checking network requirements" then shortly after will connect

Your device should now connect automatically to the eduroam wireless network whenever it is in range.
