Reporting a fault with an access control door or turnstile. There are a variety of different problems which can affect the operation of a door or turnstile. Many of them have no connection with the card reader or access control system. Where there is a physical problem with a door - e.g. it is not closing properly, or is difficult to open, please report the problem through the Estates Helpdesk (EBIS) in the normal way. If it is clear that the problem concerns the access control system - e.g. if the card reader is rejecting all or most cards which previously worked, or if the lights on the reader are lit in an unusual pattern, or the exit button appears to not release the door - then please contact the Access Control Door Service contact point using the email address or phone number below. (If the problem occurs out of normal working hours, and the fault compromises the security of the building, please inform University Security.) When reporting the fault, please give full details: Each access control door has a door number, starting with a U, followed by three digits, a slash, then two further digits (e.g. U057/04). Usually this number is on a label on the door reader. If you are unable to find the door number, please give precise details of the door location, including the name of the building, the floor within the building and the area which the door guards (or other clear description of the door location). Please supply the time(s) and date(s) when the problem occurred. This can help narrow down the possible causes. If the fault concerns a specific card or cards which do not work correctly with the door, please supply the card number(s). If you don't supply full details in the fault report, Information Services will not be able to rectify the problem so quickly.
