Badge Champions

Champions play a key role supporting the creation and issuing of University open digital badges.

Invitation to become a BadgEd Champion

We would like to invite colleagues from Schools with no Champions or only one Champion to consider becoming an open digital badges Champion.

This role involves supporting others in your School who are interested in offering digital badges for their activities. Training and support are provided for the role, which gives those involved the opportunity to shape the development of alternative accreditation of skills and achievements in the University.

About being a Digital Badges Champion

What does a Digital Badges Champion do?

Digital badges Champions are the main point of contact for people interested in digital badges. Champions promote digital badges to colleagues in their Schools and can answer general questions.

Champions assist issuers when they want to create a new badge. They provide advice on ideas for new badges and feedback before a new badge request goes for review. Once a new badge is approved, Champions may also assist in the creation and issuing of badges for their School.

Champions also review new badge requests from other Schools.

Who can be a digital badges Champion?

Any member of staff with the interest and time to provide support to their colleagues can become a Champion. Induction and support for the role are provided by the central service team, and Champions also have the mutual support of other Champions. And yes, a School can have more than one Champion, in fact, we encourage it!
