Champions play a key role supporting the creation and issuing of University open digital badges. Invitation to become a Digital Badges Champion With the expansion of BadgEd beyond our early adopters we would like to invite colleagues from Schools not currently involved to consider becoming Open Digital Badge Champions. This role would involve supporting others in your School who are interested in offering digital badges for their activities. Training and support would be provided for a role which would give those involved the opportunity to shape the development of alternative accreditation of skills and achievements in the University. About being a Digital Badges Champion What does a Digital Badges Champion do? Image Digital Badges Champions provide local expertise and support to badge issuers and other University staff interested in digital badges. A Champion is the main point of contact for people interested in Digital Badges. Champions assist issuers when they are applying to create a new badge before the applications are submitted to the badge governance group. Once the new badges are approved, Champions can also assist in the creation and issuing of badges for their department or program. Who can be a digital badges Champion? Any member of staff with the interest and time to be able to provide support to their colleagues. Induction and support for the role will be given by the central team and Champions also have the mutual support of the other Champions. Interested in becoming a digital badges Champion? First have a look at the current Champions list. If there is a Champion for your school/department, we recommend having an initial chat with them. Then contact us to express your interest in becoming a BadgEd Champion via the IS Helpline.
