Turnitin

Turnitin is a tool available for all staff to use to support assessment. We provide support for staff using Turnitin via the VLE. We do not provide support for direct submission to TurnitinUK.

AI writing detection

University of Edinburgh submissions are not processed for AI writing detection. This functionality is currently switched off by the service owner. We do not use any other Turnitin products that rely on generative AI, such as Clarity.

We take the security and privacy of data seriously. We continue to work with Turnitin to ensure they provide the level of privacy and security of student data that we require.

We advise all staff to undertake some training before using Turnitin and seek support if you have questions before using it with students.
