Scoping AI in EdTech at Edinburgh (SADIE) has built on the existing knowledge gathered by Learning, Teaching and Web Services (LTW) to understand the current Artificial Intelligence (AI) developments and opportunities available within our centrally supported learning technology services at the University. The SADIE Approach From the project we created a process for managing new AI tools or features and the continues review of existing tools and features in our learning technology supported by our centrally services. This also included creation of risk categories based on the University’s policies and a process for identifying RAG (Red Amber Green) status to determine any escalation that requires a decision to be made on the release. To be transparent with our users the creation of a SharePoint site (UoE access only) has been made that includes our processes, guidance and support as well as an AI matrix that documents the status of the tool or feature, progress of AI developments, outlaying the risk and the decision-making process. Here we would like to share our processes and experience in managing AI within our learning technology services to be used as a template for other services. AI Risk Identification Categories This section identifies any existing risks in Artificial Intelligence (AI) within Higher Education (HE) and any associated risk categories. Management of AI in EdTech Process This section outlines the processes in managing AI developments in our Learning Technology Services at the University. These processes can be adapted and used as a template for your own services. SADIE Project Report This is the final Project Report that includes AI in EdTech Policy Requirements and Recommendations.
