How do students connect to an event?

Students should use the University's WiFi service where possible to connect to a Wooclap event.

Participants will use a web browser on their device to access Wooclap over the internet. Registered students are entitled to register to use the WiFi network at the University. It is recommended that they do this and so can take part in a session without affecting their mobile data plan allowance. Once registered to use WiFi, they can configure their device to connect to the WiFi via eduroam - doing so will allow them to easily connect to the WiFi network when they choose without having to log in each time. Participants who are not able to join our WiFi network will have to use a device with mobile data access.

How participants join an event is determined in advance by the presenter. There are three modes:

  1. Anonymous - no log in is required and participants are completely anonymous.
  2. Participant username - no log in is required but participants must choose a name for themselves in the event.
  3. Authenticated - participants will be asked to log into Wooclap with their University log in. Participants are fully identifed in the reporting for the session.
