Media Hopper Create - Privacy Statement

What information we collect and why for Media Hopper Create users.

Information the University will collect about you and purposes for which it will use this information

The University holds information about everyone who uses the Media Hopper Create service. This information is used to identify your level of access to specific channels, assets and associated materials held within the system, report on your usage of the system, provide you with support, maintain our IT system, gather feedback, and for strategic planning purposes.

You, or, with your permission, another service user, may upload recordings or text comments containing your image, voice and any personal opinions you express.  At the point it is uploaded, each recording is only available to the user who uploaded it, and that user can control the availability of their recordings and can choose whether to make the recording available more widely.

Recordings and other information from the service may be used within the scope of an investigation under the University’s Code for Student Conduct.

The University is using information about you in pursuit of its legitimate interests in providing a media asset management service to its students and staff.

The University uses an external company (Kaltura Inc.) to process information about you on the University’s behalf.  The University remains responsible for the information and will ensure it is kept securely.

Retention of personal data within recordings

From 15 April 2021, due to storage limitations, recordings may be deleted if they are more than two years old and have not been played back within the previous 24 months.  This is explained in the  Media Hopper Create Retention Policy.  The University otherwise holds the personal data you provide within a recording indefinitely.

Cookies
