Looking for Help with Learn?

From the beginning of the 23/24 academic year, all new courses will be delivered using an updated Learn interface. In order to ensure that users can access support materials for current and previous year courses we have kept old support materials on Edweb pages and created a new Sharepoint Learn site full of useful resources for the new interface.

For Learn resources for current courses, please visit the Learn Sharepoint (University of Edinburgh users only).

Here you can access the most up-to-date information such as:

  • Good practice guidance
  • Training and support resources
  • How to guides

To access support material for older courses please use the pages below as usual.

Information can be viewed by Instructors to give insight into when a course is used, if the materials are being viewed, and how students might be progressing in the course.

Course Reports

Learn has a number of reports that are available to provide an overview of some of the activity within your course. It is also possible to turn on a statistics tool for each element within your course if you would like to see more specific information.

Reports can be accessed via a course in Learn by going to Evaluation > Course Reports.

Below is a breakdown of each report and the information available in that particular report:

Retention Centre

The retention centre offers course tutors the chance to set some key activity targets and course goals that you expect a student to complete at certain stages of the course. The retention centre provides a report to highlight students that are at risk of not meeting the activity targets that you have specified and take any required actions to help that student within the course. This tool is particularly useful for Online Distance Courses where tutors may not be able detect that a student who is studying at distance may require some additional support.

Go to the  Retention Centre page to find out more.

Grade Centre Analysis

The Grade Centre contains a number of features which can give staff a view of the grades relating to specific assignments or students. This is in addition to the many tools which help you to manage assignments, markers, grades, and feedback.

You can create downloadable reports and review the grade history of specific items.
