All activities marked as a lecture are scheduled to be recorded automatically if they are in a replay-enabled room. If your activity is marked as a seminar, tutorial or workshop in timetabling then it will be available to opt-in via the Replay Scheduler. If your Course is not scheduled for lecture recording, either consult with your School Replay Support representative or contact the IS Helpline. How do I start an ad-hoc recording? Ad-hoc recordings can be started by logging onto Media Hopper Replay and selecting the 'Start Capture' button., fill in the requested details and select 'Start' The light will change to show that the recording is underway. There are two types: a clip-on microphone and a hand-held microphone. If you do not use a microphone, there will be no sound on your recording. It is also important to make sure the microphone is placed back in the charging cradle after use. If the image is being used for the purpose of 'Quotation, Criticism & Review' then it falls under the Fair Dealing exception to UK copyright law. Your use of the images must genuinely be for the purpose of quotation, criticism or review, and your use of the material must extend no further than is required to achieve your purpose. Once a recording has started, you can pause the recording by pressing the 'recording light' on the desk. The recording light has the following colour sequence: Red = Recording; Amber = Paused; Green = Not Recording. You can re-start the recording by pressing the recording light again. How do I find out which rooms have lecture recording installed? You can view a list of the rooms which are Media Hopper Replay enabled here: https://edin.ac/2HKrmEG Will questions asked by students in my class be picked up on the recording? In the largest teaching spaces, there are throwable microphones called Catchboxes. Some rooms will be equipped with handheld microphones. In rooms without a Catchbox or a handheld microphone, questions will have to be repeated by the presenter to ensure they are picked up on the recording. How will I view recorded lectures? Recorded lectures will be available for review within the relevant course in the Learn or Moodle VLE. After 24 hours the recording will be visible to students allowing you to review and edit recordings before being released to students. Who will have access to recorded lectures? Media Hopper Replay is accessed using the Learn or Moodle VLEs and recorded lectures are accessed from within the relevant course. The only people who will have access to lectures for a specific course will be people who have permission to access that course on the VLE. How do I upload presentations to Echo360? Presentations can be uploaded from within Replay. Yes, if you are the owner or are an instructor on the appropriate course. You can manually upload, or delete, your own subtitles from within Media Hopper Replay. All content in Media Hopper Replay has Automatic Speech Recognition applied to it, generating a transcript which can be edited and applied as closed captions if you wish. Does Media Hopper Replay have a software recorder? Yes, there is a Software Recorder, which is available for both PC and Mac. It is available to all staff and can be downloaded from the Media Hopper Replay interface. How can I export content from Media Hopper Replay? Content can be exported from Media Hopper Replay by accessing the content and downloading the required file via the Processed module on the right-hand menu.
