The Learn calendar provides a user-friendly way to view submission deadlines and other events across all your Learn courses. Watch a video about the Calendar (5th video within the playlist.) Why use the Learn calendar? While the Activity Stream in Learn provides a timeline of current activity and upcoming or recent events, the Calendar offers a more complete view of key dates across your courses. Alternatively, you can choose to filter it and focus on assignment due dates orupcoming events. This can be a useful tool to help you plan ahead during busy submission times. You can navigate directly to courses or assignments through links in the calendar event. Calendar events also generate notifications and reminders through the Activity Stream and Blackboard app. What information will I find in the Learn calendar? The calendar automatically displays Learn and Turnitin assignment due dates for all your courses. Instructors may also add other important one-off or ad-hoc events to the calendar in Learn. Your instructor will advise you where to look to find other information. Will I see my timetable in the Learn Calendar? Timetabled activities (Lectures, Tutorials, Labs and so on) do not appear in the Learn calendar but can be found in your Office 365 calendar, or in MyEd. More information on students’ personal timetables can be found here: Student Timetables. Centrally scheduled examinations do not appear in the Learn calendar. These will be added to your Office 365 calendar when the examinations timetable is published. Find more information about the examination timetable here: Personalised Examination Timetable. How to use the Learn Calendar In Learn Ultra Base Navigation, the calendar is accessed from the main menu in the left-side panel. Image Image Choose from the Day or Month view, or select Due Dates to show only those items. Select a calendar event to view details. Image Add a calendar event The Learn calendar includes events across all courses you are enrolled on, and a personal calendar. Only you can see and add events to your personal calendar, and only instructors can add events to course calendars. To add an event to your personal calendar, click the plus (+) at the top right of the calendar Image If you want to choose which course(s) to see in the calendar, click on the cog wheel at the top right of the calendar page to open Calendar Settings Image Select or deselect courses as required using the checkboxes. Take care not to deselect a course you are currently taking as this will prevent submission due dates from showing in the calendar. Image Ultra Course View If a course you are taking is using the new Ultra Course View, you can also see the Calendar for that individual course by selecting Calendar in the course Navigation Bar. Image Sharing the Learn calendar to an external calendar Using the Share calendar feature, you can add your Learn calendar to an external calendar such as Office365 or Google Calendar. However we do not recommend this to students for the following reasons: Updates to the Learn calendar can take 24 hours or more to show in the calendar it is being shared to. It can be difficult to see which course a calendar item refers to in the calendar it has been shared to. Links within the calendar item, such as course or assignment links, do not work in the share calendar. Instead, our recommendation is to use the Activity Stream and Learn notifications to stay up to date with any changes in your Learn course, and the Learn calendar to look ahead and plan your time around assessment due dates.
