The Activity Stream helps you to manage your time by allowing you to see all your assignments, tests, and course activities in one place. Watch a video about the Activity Stream (6th video within the playlist.) The Activity Stream is populated automatically when an instructor has added an item or activity to a course in Learn. You can navigate from the Activity Stream directly into your course content by selecting one of the items listed in that stream. Below you can see an image of what the Activity Stream within Learn looks like. Image We recommend that you regularly check the Activity Stream to keep up to date with all your course activity. This includes assignment items that are due, grades and feedback, course announcements and content that has been added to a course by an instructor. Items that show in your Activity Stream are: Course announcements. New courses that are available. Course Activity: This is content that your instructor has added to your course such as assignments, tests, discussions, documents, web links and, for those that use them, SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) packages (these are used to transfer content into a Learn course in certain scenarios such as Xerte). Your grades when posted by an instructor . Course events, when added by an instructor. Items that are due today. Items that are due in the next seven days. Items that are past due. Events that are happening today. Events that are happening in the next seven days. How the Activity Stream displays information The Activity Stream is set out into four categories: important, upcoming, today and recent. This allows you to easily navigate the page and find important information. Important: Here you will see any overdue assessment items. You can dismiss an item, but this will only remove it from your Activity Stream, it does not affect the original content. Image Upcoming: This shows your next five events by date. It can show up to seven days ahead. Events can include assessment due dates and calendar events added by yourself and/or your instructors. Image Today: This shows you everything that is happening and due in the next 24 hours, which includes announcements that have been posted and course activity items that have been added. Image Recent: This lists all course announcements, course activity items and posted grades in chronological order over the past seven days. Image How to filter information on the Activity Stream To control what you see in your Activity Stream, you can use the Filter feature at the top right of your page and select what to display from the drop-down menu. Image You can also control what you see by selecting and de-selecting items in your Notification Settings. Click on the cog wheel in the top right of your screen to open the settings. Image In Stream Notifications, select or deselect activities to customise your Activity Stream to only show the information you want. Make your selection and click Save. Image In Notifications Settings, you can also customise your Email Notifications to control the emails Learn will send to your University of Edinburgh email address. Make your selection and click Save. Image If you choose to use the Learn app, you can change your Push Notifications within Notification Settings. Push notifications are short messages that appear as pop-ups on your mobile device to notify you of updates in your Learn App. Select or deselect what you want pushed to the Learn app. Make your selection and click Save.
