This page covers the main benefits that Ally can provide students, and how to access alternative formats within your Learn courses. Ally for Students Ally is a tool which will provide extra accessibility support for students when accessing materials in Learn. It allows you to download alternative formats of those materials, meaning that you can choose how best to interact with your learning resources. Where to find Ally Ally can be found inside documents in your Learn courses, and is accessed by clicking on the ally ‘A’ icon in the top right-hand corner: Image Ally Alternative Formats Clicking on the Ally ‘A’ icon will open a pop up on screen listing all available alternative formats for the learning material: Image Tagged PDF: Downloads a structured PDF that works alongside assistive technology, such as screen readers. HTML: Downloads an HTML file to view on browser and mobile devices. ePub: Downloads a version of the learning materials that can be loaded onto an iPad, tablet or e-book readers. Electronic Braille: Downloads a file that is compatible with electronic braille readers. Audio: Downloads an MP3 of the content being read aloud by a computer-generated voice. BeeLine Reader: Downloads an enhanced version that can be edited for reading preferences. Immersive Reader: Opens an immersive reader view within the web browser which allows you to read aloud and edit text formatting. Select the alternative format that you would like to use and then click download. There is no limit on how many of the alternative versions you can download. While Ally does provide these alternative versions, they may not be perfect.
