Noteable User Group on Teams (log in required, staff only)

There are a number of ways to distribute files to your students:

• Manual Upload
  • Send the files to your students via email or using a file link in Learn, your students can then manually upload these files.
• Nbgitpuller
  • Noteable now incorporates nbgitpuller, an extension that allows you to link to public Github repos. These are then automatically pulled into the student repository. In order to use this each student will need to enter the Github URL into the dialogue menu accessed by clicking the +GitRepo button.
• nbgrader
  • Using the assignment feature available via the Formgrader tab you can allow your students to download a small set of files. This is useful if you do not have a public Github repo or want to release new files each week.

​​​​​The Noteable service is aimed primarily at supporting teaching and learning, and it is accessed from a Learn course via an LTI integration link. 

If you want to use Jupyter notebooks for your research project, and do not have a Learn course for it, you might want to consider using other tools such as Anaconda, which gives your flexibility in installing bespoke packages.

Please check the List of Noteable languages and packages first and make use of the resources already available. 

If you would like to see a specific package or library added then please Contact Helpline with details such as course name, number of students, expected delivery time, example scripts, etc. 

Please be aware that adding packages may take a long time, as EDINA will review the requests twice a year, and will need to carry out testing to ensure the change will not impact current users.
