External Visiting Lecturer Agreement on Lecture Recording

Schools should ensure visiting speakers sign a standard agreement prior to being recorded by Media Hopper Replay. The agreement clarifies and protects the rights of both the speaker and the University.

There are three different versions of the agreement, one for taught course lectures, one for public lectures and one for restricted audience seminars.

As with any other University contract, the relevant agreement is signed on behalf of the University Court in accordance with the University’s Delegated Authorisation Schedule.  This will normally be the Head of School.  If your School or College has any specific processes and procedures around the approval of visiting lecturers, these must be followed.

University teaching delivered as part of a taught course

If the speaker is delivering a lecture as part of a University taught course, the Course Organiser should arrange for the completion of the External Visiting Lecturer Agreement by downloading it from here:

Public Lectures

If the speaker is delivering a public lecture or open seminar that is not part of a taught course, the Event Organiser should arrange for the completion of the External Visiting Lecturer Agreement for public lectures by downloading it from here:

Restricted Audience Seminars

If the speaker is delivering a seminar or similar presentation recorded or streamed by the lecture recording service and delivered to a restricted audience within the University of Edinburgh, the Event Organiser should arrange for the completion of the External Visiting Lecturer Agreement for internal seminars by downloading it from here:
