Blogging for students

You are an undergraduate or taught postgraduate student

- If you are looking for a blog to use as a piece of assessed work, you will need your teacher to create it first via blogs.ed.ac.uk, a VLE or PebblePad.

- If you are looking for a blog to use as personal space for creation or as an academic profile, PebblePad is the best solution for you. As our academic ePortfolio platform, it has built-in blogging features which are easy to use. Learn more about PebblePad and how to sign up.

You are a research postgraduate student

-If you want a blog for your research group or community, we recommend either:

• blogs.ed.ac.uk if you do not need your blog to be editable by people from other institutions and require no bespoke functionality. Find out more about blogs.ed.ac.uk. 
• DIY blogs if you want a blog with more space for personalisation and your own web hosting. Research based blogs will come to a small cost. Find out more about DIY blogs.
• Customised blogs if you have funding and need a crossinstitutional blog with a specific functionality. Find out more about customised blogs. 

-If you want a blog to promote your ideas, reflections and research, we recommend that you use blogs.ed.ac.uk. This is a service which allows staff and research PG students to have a simple WordPress blog. Only standard plug-ins and themes are available but the site is maintained by Information Services. Find out more about blogs.ed.ac.uk.
