The Turnitin integration with Learn enables instructors to use the Turnitin suite of tools Move from Turnitin Basic to Turnitin LTITurnitin have retired our existing integration, so the University has worked with Turnitin to move to LTI 1.3.We ran an early-adopter programme to provide real-world experiences of the LTI to staff in a number of Schools. We were also in discussions with other universities that have already been using the LTI 1.3.Here is the timeline for the move:24th March 2022 - New Turnitin Integration (LTI) became available to use in all courses6th June 2022 - Existing Turnitin Integration (Basic) was no longer available to create new inboxes in Learn31st August 2022 - All existing Turnitin (Basic) inboxes became read-onlyTurnitin: moving to LTI (captioned video; 40 mins) [link to Media Hopper]You can find support documents in Help and support and also two Quick Guides to the changes (below)If this has caused any issues for your courses, please get in touch via IS Helpline.Quick guide to Turnitin LTI: staffHere are some key points to help you understand how Turnitin LTI differs from the Turnitin Basic Assignments you have used before:Creating an AssignmentTo create an Assignment in Learn, go to Build Content rather than Assessments (for guidance on how to do this, see the worksheet on the Help and support page)Once created the Assignment will be visible, so hide the column in the Grade Centre (for guidance on how to do this, see the worksheet on the Help and support page)Staff and students will all now access the Assignment from the same place: the course contentThe Turnitin icon will not appear next to the Assignment so please name your Assignments such that students are aware they are Turnitin AssignmentsSubmitting work to an AssignmentStudents will see a progress bar as they go through the submission processStudents will not receive a digital receipt automatically; encourage them to download their receipt immediately after submitting Staff cannot upload a zip file of submissions to an AssignmentGroup submissions to an Assignment are not possible; instead you could ask one student in each group to submit work on behalf of the group and then share the grade and feedback they receive with the other members of their groupMarkingIf you have set up Groups within Learn you can use this within the Assignment to filter students for marking (useful if you have multiple markers each marking different Groups)GradesThere is no need to sync grades as they will be fed to the Grade CentreYou can sort submissions by grade in the Grade CentreQuick guide to Turnitin LTI: studentsYou will not receive a digital receipt automatically; as soon as you have submitted your work download your receipt immediately (for guidance on how to do this, see the worksheet on the Help and support page)Please note that:assignments created in Learn cannot be updated from the TurnitinUK website directlyany changes made to an assignment directly on the TurnitinUK website will not be reflected back to the assignment in Learn Useful resources for Turnitin assignments in LearnFor InstructorsThere is a range of resources supporting marking and feedback on our Help and support page:Instructor Help and SupportFor StudentsIf you have any questions about submitting work to Turnitin we encourage you to seek further clarification from your Course Organiser or other staff that support your course/programme as soon as possible.
