Similar to YouTube and Vimeo, Media Hopper is the University's own media asset management solution. Image Media Hopper is a new service that puts video at the heart of teaching, learning, research and public engagement. A soft launch began at the end of January and runs till May, with the full launch due in June. Available now to all staff and students, it provides a space they can use to upload media and then publish to various places, including VLEs, websites and social media channels. Media Hopper will also be useful to support staff interested in public engagement, communications and marketing. There are no space quotas and it is free for all users. The main Media Hopper portal is the first part of the project to go live. During the soft rollout phase the team will be integrating it with other University systems such as the two main Virtual Learning Environments, Learn and Moodle. The MLE001 project team have been working on the scoping, procurement and implementation of Media Hopper since September 2014. The team are also working on mobile apps which will launch later in Spring.
