Information Services has been reviewing its services in the possibility of a significant flu outbreak. Information Services ProvisionThese plans are not yet designed to deal with a very serious outbreak when the University is instructed to close buildings and facilities, but are restricted to actions we plan to take when substantial proportions of our own staff are ill.Libraries and Open Access LabsWe intend to keep the Main Library building open for its normal advertised hours as our highest priority library site. All other Libraries will be open as much as possible as a second priority. The provision of services within any of these Libraries will depend on the availability of staff on a given day. Open access microlabs should be open as normal unless the building they are in has been shut. In the event of a change to service provision, more detailed information will be posted here.On-Line FacilitiesWe will treat the availability of on-line services as our highest IT priority. It is recognised they are of particular importance as significant numbers of staff and students may want to, or have to, work from home. This web page gives up to date information on the state of our services:Service status and alertsSpecific details on accessing Library e-resources is given here:Accessing Library e-resourcesWorking from HomeAlthough many staff and students already work from home they may not have attempted to access a full range of services or know how to access their own files. It is very important that you test the capabilities of your internet connection, your software and your permissions to access before any crisis situation occurs, as our Helpdesk and Helpline staff may also be absent during a period of high infection. For further help please see:Working from homeWe are also in the process of taking significant steps to maintain access to e-journals to assist in the ability to work remotely.
