What we do

We support the digital student experience and provide learning and teaching technology expertise and services to the University.

The Learning, Teaching and Web Services Directorate (LTW) brings together educational design and engagement, e-learning, digital skills and training, the University website, web services, graphics, multimedia and classroom technology teams to support learning, teaching and outreach for an enhanced student experience.

We provide a wide range of technologies and support for innovative learning and teaching, including blended learning tools, bespoke development, online video, open education resources, taught online Masters programmes and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).

We manage the continuing expansion and diversification of the University website and provide technology services in 400 centrally managed teaching rooms across the campus plus 5,500 study spaces.

The majority of LTW’s services are in use 24/7, 365 days of the year by almost 50,000 students, including those studying on-campus and online, and more than 17,000 staff. Our services also support over 14 million visitors to the University website annually including the general public and applicants for University posts and courses

Learning and Teaching Contacts in ISG

We have a network of ISG Learning and Teaching contacts for each School, to work alongside the existing IT Consultants and Academic Support Librarians, as an additional point of contact for staff seeking support for learning and teaching related queries.

LT Reps are happy to be invited to learning & teaching committees and other relevant school meetings or fora, and to provide bulletins and service updates as required.

The aim is to better facilitate the flow of information to the relevant learning technology teams within ISG and to support colleagues to access full support and guidance on current learning and teaching priorities. We appreciate that many members of staff already have well-established contacts within ISG and this is not intended to change existing lines of communication in any way. If, however, staff are unsure who to contact regarding learning and teaching technology the Reps can offer help.

The names and contact details for LT Reps are available at the link below
