Am I eligible?

Any currently matriculated student at the University of Edinburgh can apply for student jobs in ISG.

Students of all degree levels are eligible (undergraduates, postgraduates and PhD students). There are no restrictions on the number of ISG student jobs you apply for, or how many previous employment opportunities you have completed with us.

How many hours can I work?

We offer employment opportunities in line with the University's policy on student working hours:

  • 15 hours per week for full-time undergraduate students (increasing to 35 hours per week during vacation periods).
  • 15 hours per week for full-time, on-campus postgraduate taught students (this will depend on your course - speak to your course leader if you are unsure).
  • 9 hours per week on average across the academic year for full-time postgraduate research students.

The University does not have a formal limit on the number of hours it will employ part-time students. Working hours for part-time students will be addressed on a case by case basis.

Student Visas

The number of hours you can work will also be dictated by your student visa if you have one. This will normally be 20 hours per week during term time for Tier 4 and Student Visas.
