About the Section

The Communications Infrastructure Services Section (CIS) is responsible for delivery of a number of communications-related services to the University .

Our mission is to enable:

  • People, computers and other network-capable devices to communicate within the University and with the wider world.
  • The right people to be given access to the right places at the right times.
  • Monitoring of the University estate to protect people, property and buildings.

We are responsible for:

  • Installing, maintaining and developing an advanced, economic and reliable telecommunications infrastructure which meets the University’s needs for both data and voice communications.
  • Installing, maintaining and developing an door access control and alarm monitoring system which meets the University’s needs

In discharging these responsibilities, we strive to:

  • Maintain a clear focus on the needs of our service users.
  • Maintain and grow users’ and customers’ trust in the services by ensuring appropriate levels of reliability, resilience and security.
  • Develop the technical and leadership capabilities of our staff through formal and informal awareness, training and mentoring activities.
  • Maintain engagement and leadership with peers, major sector players and industry at regional, national and (where appropriate) international levels.
