The Pensions Office and IS Applications have completed a project to deliver the information required under the new Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) benefits structure. In April 2016, USS introduced a restructured Pension product for its scheme members. For the new product, USS provided member universities with a specification of the electronic data it would require to manage members' future pensions benefits. The new specification was found to be substantially different to the data the universities had previously provided electronically to USS, in that it required the reporting of changes applied to a number of data elements. This required the use of HR system functionality that was unfamiliar to the University, and so the decision was taken to buy-in the required specialist knowledge from a consultancy firm. Project team members from the Pensions Office and IS Applications worked with the external technical specialist to deliver the required data transfers to USS. The University was among the earliest to be able to deliver the new feeds to USS. Two full payroll runs have been successfully completed since the project's live deployment at the start of April. The project has therefore been approved for closure. For more information about the USS Pension Changes project, please see the project website: USS Pension Changes Publication date 21 Jun, 2016
