IS Applications Division monitor and record information on IT service availability, to help meet the expectation of the University's students and staff for excellent availability all day, all year. Image While our IT services are built to withstand component failures, monitoring is crucial to establish trends and potential weak areas. Over the last 12 months we have met our targets for the majority of our services and discussions are ongoing to develop strategies for under performing areas. Availability data is recorded against top and medium priority services, with different key performance indicators in place for the two categories. This information is publicly available and reviewed daily under these metrics: Unplanned availability - downtime due to faults Planned availability - downtime due to planned work, communicated in advance Combined availability - total downtime due to unplanned and planned availability We have availability data going back over five years, published here: http://reports.is.ed.ac.uk/alerts/reports/ Publication date 06 May, 2016
