A Model system designed to help with the distribution of work at the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is being embedded as part of a new project. A new project with the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences will focus on reviewing and implementing an updated College Workload Allocation Model (WAM) and embedding its use in the Simitive WAMS system. This will assist with consistent, transparent and fair distribution of work within the College. Image The transparency and fairness of a single College WAM, implemented in the WAMS system, helps ensure staff are not over or under allocated work, and allows for easier conversation between staff about workloads. Use of a single Workload Allocation Model in the College enables a better understanding of workloads across the College. This will support development of a course costing model with more accurate academic staff costs. Following the initial introduction of Simitive WAMS earlier this year, the project plans to see wider use of the system across the College. It will allow academic staff to access their workload information at any time online, and the streamlined system will also reduce the number of emails and shared files needed between staff. These changes are also intended to improve staff time management and overall work/life balance. The project continues the University’s successful partnership with Simitive, a business management solutions company which designs the Workload Allocation Model system that is intended to “manage the distribution of workloads fairly between team members”.
