uCreate Studio - The University of Edinburgh’s community Makerspace - are delighted to announce the availability of their new video induction. Opening up essential equipment loans to new students and staff. Situated in the Main Library, the makerspace provides equipment, advice, training, and support for a wide range of new and transformative technologies including 3D Scanning, 3D Printing, and Virtual Reality. The service moved to a hybrid model in response to COVID-19 and now offers online workshops; bureau 3D printing; and specialist equipment loans. The new video induction opens up the equipment loans service to new makers, allowing sign-up to uCreate Reservations, a loans service for everything from electronics kits to holographic displays, free of charge to any University of Edinburgh makers with collection and return via booked drop-in from the Main Library, George Square. The service is currently limited to activities essential to research, learning and teaching while Scotland is in lockdown, but will allow us to ensure that all staff and students continue to have access to new and transformative technologies essential to their academic pursuits.
