Successful pilot extensions of assessment software

Further uses of the Practique exam management software were piloted across the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (CMVM)

The College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (CMVM) successfully completed piloting further uses of the Practique exam management software. The software is already in use by the Medical School for the MBChB Assessments and feedback and Observed Structured Clinical Exams (OSCEs).

The College piloted the software for written papers in the Deanery of Biomedical Sciences, OSCEs in the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and for Admissions Assessment days for the MBChB programme in the Medical School.

The OSCEs pilot was successfully completed in April 2021, despite delays to March 2020 exams due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The preparatory processes and workflow for delivering written exams were sufficiently piloted by the Deanery of Biomedical Sciences staff in 2020 to enable their understanding of the functionality available and the benefits associated with the Practique software. With exams being cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions, the pilot exam with students in August 2020 did not take place.

The MBChB Admissions Assessment days in December 2019 and January 2020 for the 20/21 intake were very successful and enabled the Medical School to issue offers to candidates, weeks earlier than usual.

Overall, this project was beneficial for the College with both successful outcomes for the MBChB Admissions Assessment days and OSCEs pilot and valuable learning for all pilot areas.
