Our libraries are open!

Since Edinburgh moved to restriction Level 3 from Monday 26th April, all remaining University of Edinburgh libraries (with the exception of The School of Scottish Studies Archives and Library) have now reopened.

Barriers to print collections have been removed and self-issue book machines restarted in order to give University library users self-service access to print collections. All centrally managed study spaces have opened and central area spaces are seeing high levels of student bookings. Full details are available on the Study Spaces website

We continue to provide the Scan & Deliver service which allows students and staff to request copyright-compliant scans of book chapters and articles no matter where they’re based. The Click & Collect Service closed in line with the resumption of browsing and borrowing access to collections. Click & Collect was available from 8th February 2021 for Main Library and UCF collections, before being extended to provide access to collections at some of our site libraries. The service was in high demand, with a total of 13,817 requests from 3,408 unique users. At University Library Committee last week academic colleagues noted their appreciation for this service which has provided access to our print collections while browsing was suspended.
