New Estates Information Location

A new central dashboard has been implemented to collect and organise information on Estates-owned systems on ABACUS.

Over the last few years, the Estates IT Team have collated information for all Estates-owned and IT systems, but other systems, such as People and Money, are not included. To help make daily tasks easier for Estates, Enterprise Architecture, together with Estates, have systematically collected all relevant information, ranging from computer systems to IT planning, onto a new dashboard. This is on the ABACUS application.

A list of this standardised and now consistent data can be found on the Estates Metadata Catalogue and Definitions.docx, improving user-friendly and easy access. Built upon previous work done by the Estates IT team, this new database verifies the IT systems against different sources as seen in the Catalogue, clarifying those which are Estates-owned.

Additionally, a number of visualisations have been made in ABACUS, which will provide some of the best help in aiding discussions with the various business areas.

This new dashboard can be a foundation for future projects, as well as helping out with the daily tasks for Estates. The data found in ABACUS can easily support future planning for projects, improving operational efficiency and productivity. A number of other benefits include:

  • Better data interpretation
  • Efficient data management
  • Enhanced IT planning
  • Reusable methodology

This is a great and exciting development for Estates, introducing new ways of approaching IT management and tasks.
