NOTE: The information detailed below is our current expectation of the services affected by the outage. Affected Services during the disruptions http://www.ed.ac.uk/is/alerts Service Details Networked data storage PCs in the open access labs will be available. However there will be no access to any of the files in your network storage area (M drive). If you create any new files over the weekend you will not be able to save them to your M drive. You will need to bring in some form of removable storage, such as a pen drive, to save your files to. Do not save files to the local machine (C drive) as this area is purged daily. Networked printing and photocopying Network printing and photocopying will be unavailable Access to Apple Macs The Apple Mac computers in the Open Access labs will not be available. The Macs in the Moray House labs will however be available with the exception of the Dalhousie lab. Applications Several of the applications provided on the lab computers won’t be available. These are listed below. Additionally, any personalisation you have made to the applications on lab machines will not be applied. Maple, ASReml, AutoCAD 2006, Splus, SPSS, SPSS Commute Licence, Sibelius 5, EViews, Unisim, Zoo (Rhino3d & Flamingo), SolidWorks 2009. Other applications may be impacted by the outage that we cannot predict at this stage & all desktop applications may suffer from reduced performance speed. MyEd The MyEd portal will be unavailable. However the MyEd home page will provide links to key services available during the weekend disruptions Library Circulation & Catalogue (OPAC) Partially available: The Library Catalogue(OPAC) will be available. It will be read only so will not provide item status information. You will be able to borrow books where staff are available at desks but you will not be able to use the self issue or renew your books online. Unaffected services The following services will be available over the affected weekends: Service Details E-Resources Electronic journals will continue to be available via the ejournals portal.
