A review of the Main Library HUB Collection will ensure essential course resources are accessible, relevant, and available online as much as possible, supporting students and academic staff. There are thousands of books in the University’s Main Library Collections, supporting students and academic staff in their research and studies. To ensure print book collections best support teaching and learning, a review of the HUB (High Use Book) Collections, compromising of short loan, Reserve, and offprint collections, is underway. This review includes identifying materials to be considered for de-duplication, including the withdrawal of offprints for which digital alternatives have been identified. Assessing items that are not currently associated with a Resource List is part of this activity, considering proposals to limit the number of copies required to support course teaching in HUB collections, and moving them to the Standard Loan Collections. This will free up space for more relevant texts in the HUB and Reserve Collections, and enable consideration of the best use of the HUB space in the future, maximised by the removal of a number of filing cabinets previously used for storing offprints.By reviewing these Collections, the Library will ensure all materials in the HUB at the Main Library provide access to the most relevant print collections to support taught courses. Maximising online access to core texts is a key aim of this project, ensuring essential library materials are available to all students wherever they are located.
