Managing Accommodation with Kinetics Kx

The Kinetics-supplied Kx student, commercial accommodation and event management system will continue to be used to manage accommodation and event administration.

A legal requirement to re-tender the Kinetics-supplied application Kx has prompted an investigation into other products and suppliers to provide ACE with the services to meet student, commercial and event management needs. After some research, it was decided to stay with Kinetics, as they are one of the few suppliers that provide services that meet student and commercial accommodation and also event management needs.

By extending the current contract with Kinetics, and move to their cloud-based Kx SaaS solution, the accommodation and event management system will:

  • Manage the variety and volume of student accommodation options for over 10,000 students annually
  • Manage the variety and volume of commercial accommodation and event options for over 100,000 guests annually
  • Manage the full event management administration process for internal and external physical events

By sticking with Kinetics, colleagues are already familiarised with its functionalities as well as the business IT function (ACE ICT) who have had a positive relationship with the vendor since 2005. The procured solution will ensure a high quality and stable environment which will allow the continuation of critical student services, as well as saving overall costs. While the University is using the same supplier as before, analyses of what is else is available from Kinetics has opened up further opportunities to develop the existing suite of applications provided by Kinetics which will help future proof this crucial business function.
