Congratulation to the 2023 winners!

At this year’s ISG Staff Recognition Awards, we received over 200 nominations. Thank you to everyone who took the time to let their colleagues know what a difference they have made and how much they are valued, and congratulations to all nominees.

After a thorough judging process, the ISG Staff Recognition Awards 2023 shortlist was published, with winners announced at the ceremony at McEwan Hall on 2​​4 October. Their remarkable dedication and exceptional contributions have earned them well-deserved recognition across various categories. Please join us in celebrating them!

Excellence in Customer Care Award

Media Studio Team (Winner) for the team’s unwavering dedication to excellent customer care and quality learning-orientated videos. They ensure to provide a comfortable and tailored experience throughout the entire filming and post-production process and are constantly seeking ways to improve outputs and services.

Colleague of the Year Award  

Scott Docking (Winner) for his promotion of best practices in customer service, commitment to diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, active listening, and constant facilitation and creation of a warm and welcoming environment. He never stops improving himself and inspiring those around him.

Inspiring Role Model Award 

Craig Robertson (Winner) for his crucial contributions to the Study Spaces service, leadership during the Argyle House flood response, and consistent daily exemplary work. He fosters an open and supportive work culture, serving as a dedicated mentor to colleagues.

ISG in the Community Award  

Ruthanne Baxter (Winner) for her pioneering Prescribe Culture programme, supporting students and the local community to use arts, culture and heritage collections to support their mental and emotional health. She has also led collaborative projects with various universities to advance knowledge and understanding of the role of social prescribing in the heritage sector.

Team Player Award  

Jonathan Hynd (Winner) for his essential contributions to the Main Library team and its sub-teams, including Laptop and Card Services. He actively supports EdHelp, offers valuable knowledge, and is solution-orientated. He is a dependable and collaborative colleague, always open to ideas and suggestions.

Student Staff Member of the Year Award  

Ruby Imrie (Winner) for her work in the role of Witchfinder General: Data Visualisation intern. She showed enthusiasm in her work, took ownership and responsibility to represent the data correctly, and showed great ability to do high quality work to deadlines. A serious hardworker but also an incredibly sunny and personable team player

Outstanding Student Experience Award  

Unitemps Team (Winner) For promoting, processing and managing student employment across ISG. The team have played an integral part in allowing over 300 students the opportunity to work for ISG over the last 12 months, across multiple directorates. Every member of the small team keeps student experience and wellbeing at the heart of what they do every day, which is reflected in the positive feedback from the students.

Outstanding Team Award  

Scholarly Communications Team (Winner) for designing and implementing a world-leading Research Publications Policy. Their work blazed a trail for ‘rights retention’ in the UK. Authors now retain copyright in their work and can re-use it and share it openly.

Lifetime Achievement Award  

  • Susan McLaren (Winner) for her commitment to upholding University values in her work, along with her unwavering standard of professionalism and integrity. Her compassionate leadership embodies care for her colleagues while driving improvements that positively impact the entire University. Her ability to balance the personal with the professional has shaped her career journey.
