The Events Management Community has been shortlisted for the Best In-House Events Planner or Team at the Scottish Event Awards on 24th April! The Events Management Community (EMC) is an exciting and vibrant group of colleagues from across the University who voluntarily collaborate together to share advice and best practice, and help with anything events management related. Initiated in Summer 2022 by Dawn Dodd and Catherine Hetherington, the January 2024 relaunch event and word of mouth saw membership soar from 255 to over 450.Nominated by the EMC committee, the community has been shortlisted for the Best In-House Events Planner or Team at the Scottish Event Awards, ‘where the industry’s best and brightest come together’! This recognition highlights the dedication, creativity, and expertise of everyone involved in planning and delivering events at the University and showcases their commitment to creating memorable experiences for our staff, students, clients and partners. Dawn Dodd and Catherine Hetherington Founders of the Community The award criteria, 'recognises individuals or teams who organise events for their own organisation or its clients. Judges will evaluate how the team considers the design of events, the diversity and creativity of the event formates, how the group addresses and overcomes challenges throughout the planning and delivery process, and any feedback that highlights the team's success in running events effectively.'From welcoming new members by induction talks to sustainability conferences discussing the future of environmentally-friendly events, the feedback from members is always positive who look forward to the next event. The dedicated Teams channel is a haven for event planners, bringing a decentralised community together to ask questions, update on different events, and share news. It’s safe to say the EMC is a very strong contender to win! Fabulous get-together yesterday, everyone!
