Automating School Mailing Lists

A semi-automated solution to manage the mailing lists of teaching offices across the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS) is being implemented.

Each year, teaching offices across CAHSS create and manage between 100 to 150 mailing lists, adding a lot of extra work to staff to help manage the volume of emails, making it a very inefficient and vulnerable process.

Applications are working to reduce the effort involved in maintaining these lists without impacting the Schools need to contact students at different levels, through the implementation of a semi-automated solution. Analysis and testing will be key to ensure the smooth running of this project.

Beginning with the analysis phase, Applications will assess the Programme, Course and Cohort mailing lists. This will help establish the best solutions, from an existing solution, School Data Sync, to the current system, Sympa, driving the second phase: the implementation of the preferred solution.

If a suitable solution is found, the University will save the finances and time of the equivalent of 2 full-time employees, bringing enormous benefits institutionally-wide.
