To improve security and efficiency, the Central Wiki Service is receiving a major upgrade. The Central Wiki Service, based on the Atlassian Confluence software platform, is a vital place for collaboration across the University, hosting nearly 2,500 spaces with an average 40,000 page views every week. Ensuring content remains secure and the supporting platform up-to-date is critical for this priority service. This new upgrade will improve the way the service operates for all users across the University, providing new features and enhanced security. This year’s upgrade will see the Wiki service transition to Confluence Data Center Edition, in response to the end of life announcement for Atlassian server edition products, enhancing the security and provision of data. Added features and a wider scope for data analytics will also become available after this upgrade. Following completion of the upgrade improved features and opportunities presented by Data Center edition will be reviewed to further enhance the service for the future. Additionally, the implementation of a License Management Solution will optimise costs, ensuring efficient use of our licence and maximum return on the continued investment in the Wiki service. It's great to finally have a solution in place which allows us to future proof the Wiki service in a sustainable way, and also gives access to the additional features and benefits of the Data Center edition to our extensive user base. A massive thanks to everyone involved for their dedication and commitment to the project. Al ForresterService Team Manager Joe Cowan, project manager, has praised the way in which everyone, from business stakeholders to Production and Apps support, coordinated together and understood their separate tasks, making his role as project manager smooth-sailing. Even when unexpected issues were identified, the teams reacted swiftly without raising any issues and accelerated the project.
