Certain ‘hidden’ collections within the University libraries to be discovered, collated, and catalogued. Image The Hidden Collections project, as part of the Collections 2025 Programme, will identify the degree of collections that are currently ‘hidden’ due to the lack of cataloguing or low-quality metadata. Covering the Print General and Rare Book Collections in the Main Library, University Collections Facility (UCF) and site libraries, the project aims to collate a list of collections that are currently difficult to discover. The list of ‘hidden’ collections will then be used to prioritise items for future cataloguing and to inform ongoing collections management activity. Having started in December, the expected delivery date is 28th June 2024 before closure on 31st July. Being led by Alasdair MacDonald and Elizabeth Quarmby-Lawrence (Library and University Collections), the next steps are to compile a draft project brief ready for Apps Review for planning approval.
