Braille documents

A guide for dealing with requests for documents in Braille.

Over the years the number of users of Braille has decreased as technology has developed, resulting in the creation of screen readers which will read any text on a computer screen and identify the nature of the page components. However, there are still a number of visually impaired users who only use or prefer to use Braille.

The University no longer offers an in-house Braille service, but outsources all requests for Braille documents. If you receive a request for a Braille document contact the Viki Galt, Head of Disability Information who will be able to assist you (contact details are given below).
