This is an overview of access facilities at Moray House Library and how we assist disabled users. Access Image To arrange individual adjustments such as reduced cost printing students should contact the Disability and Learning Support Service as soon as possible. Their contact details can be found at the bottom of this webpage. None of the services mentioned in this document are instead of support you may receive from the Disability and Learning Support Service. Access Access is from St John Street via a ramp or stairs. The main doors are push button. The library is accessed via the door on the first floor. Unfortunately, at present students unable to evacuate without assistance are only permitted on the first floor but staff will be happy to collect and bring books and materials on the other floors to you. We will ensure users have access to the same services by making adjustments such as having books moved elsewhere etc. There are two disabled parking spaces available in the car park across the road at Charteris Land. Assistance dogs are welcome. Helpdesk services The helpdesk has an induction loop installed Coloured acetates, a portable desk lamp and a A4 page magnifier are available to borrow All library documents are available in alternative formats upon request. A library trolley can be borrowed if you find it difficult to carry books Extended borrowing is available for disabled students and is arranged via the Disability and Learning Support Service. A book collection service is available and books can be sent to the Main Library if this location is more accessible for you. Induction tours can be arranged Staff will be happy to assist in whatever way you need such as helping with printers and photocopies, collecting books etc. Accessible toilets The accessible toilet is located on the first floor and it is left hand transfer. IT services Laptops are available to borrow There is one accessible computer with a HP Scanjet 5590 ADF scanner, manual adjustable height desk, AirO2bic quill right handed mouse, Goldtouch adjustable keyboard and Goldtouch numerical pad, Tieman CCTV, ABBYY Finereader, Adobe Creative Cloud, MindGenius, TextHelp Read&Write , Audio Notetaker, Zoomtext and Adobe Digital Mind mapping software and TextHelp Read and Write (coverts text to speech) is available on all computers. Furniture and study rooms There are no rooms specifically for disabled students but there are two group study rooms on the second floor, although these are not accessible to those unable to evacuate by stairs. These rooms can be booked using the online room booking system or a member of staff can assist you. There is one adjustable height desk on the left at the far end of the balcony on the 2nd floor of the Library and one on the left of the Ground floor past the Journals/Children's collection aisle. There are also two adjustable height desks on the first floor. Staff will be happy to show you the location of these desks. Disabled students may be eligible to use the accessible individual study rooms elsewhere in the University. Image Fire evacuation If you require assistance to evacuate in an emergency you should ensure you have a PEEP (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan).
