If you are a student at the university and wish to enquire about individual adjustments such as study rooms and reduced cost printing you should contact the Disability and Learning Support Service as soon as possible. Their contact details can be found at the bottom of this webpage. None of the services mentioned in this document are instead of support you may receive from the Disability and Learning Support Service.

Access is from George Square. The CRC is located on the 6th floor of the Main Library, George Square and can be reached by lift. The CRC is well signposted from the ground floor. There is a ramp into the Main Library building. The nearest disabled parking is just outside the Main Library (this can be accessed best from the west side of George Square). To attend the CRC in person you must first register - the form is available as a hard copy or online and staff will help an individual complete the form if they so require.

Helpdesk services

• The helpdesk has a lowered section for wheelchairs and an induction loop installed.
• Coloured acetates, portable desk lamps and an A4 page magnifier are available to borrow.
• All library leaflets, forms etc are available in alternative formats upon request.
• A library trolley can be borrowed if you find it difficult to carry books.
• Induction tours can also be arranged.
• Staff will find and collect books for you. If you need help using the open-access Research Support Collection staff will provide a trolley or help carry books.

Accessible toilets

There are 2 accessible toilets on the 6th Floor in the CRC. One is left hand transfer and the other is right hand transfer. Staff will be happy to show you where they are located.

IT services

• There are no open access computers in the CRC but Mind mapping software and TextHelp Read and Write  is available on all open access PCs on the other floors of the Main Library to registered users.
• There are no open-access photocopiers, but staff can create digital images or prints of collections materials, for a fee. Subject to conditions users may be able to use their own digital cameras. There are also self-service printers for people working on microfilms.

Furniture and study rooms

There is one adjustable height desk on the 6th floor which is located directly in front of the door as you enter the reading room. There are no rooms specifically for disabled students in the CRC but disabled students may be eligible to use the accessible individual study rooms on the first floor of the Main Library. To arrange this students should contact the Disability and Learning Support Service and their details are given at the bottom of this webpage.(Due to the restricted nature of the materials it is not possible to take special collections out of the CRC to the accessible study rooms but it may be possible to do so with other materials.)

Fire Evacuation

If you require assistance to evacuate in an emergency you should ensure you have a PEEP/PEAP (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan). To arrange a PEEP/PEAP for this building please contact your school for more information. Or if you are not a student please alert staff at the security desk (ground floor) and the CRC reception desk when you enter to what assistance you require.
