Who we are The Disability Information team consists of The Head of Disability Information, the Deputy Disability Information Officer, a Disability Information Analyst and a consultancy post. The Team's role includes: Consultancy Being the named point of contact for disabled students, staff and visitors facing challenges or wanting advice regarding anything the University offers or provides.Looking at policies, practices and procedures to ensure they are as accessible as possible for disabled users.Maintaining a website of information and resources.Liaising with other key personnel across the University to ensure premises and services are as accessible as possible for disabled staff, students and members of the general public.Providing information on legislation and its practical implementation. The service is able to suggest various assistive software, hardware or standard IT solutions that might be of assistance. Users are able to borrow a range of assistive technology to ascertain usefulness before committing to a purchase. More information about this service can be found on our page Assistive Technology for Staff Disability Information Team and Students Individual student assistance is managed by the University's Disability and Learning Support Service. Students may be eligible for some of the following services, after discussion with the Disability and Learning Support Service: Longer loan periods for reserve books. Assistance with book collection. Assistance with photocopying. Access to a personal locker within the Main Library. IT adjustments for student exams. Accessible study rooms in the Main Library for sole use by disabled students, with an additional two in the Noreen and Kenneth Murray Library and one in Murchison House (through electronic booking system). Accessible study rooms in the Main Library for individual occupancy for one year by a specific disabled student. Books can be transferred free of charge from the Site Libraries to the Main Library for students if they find it more accessible.
