Content Improvement Club

A regular meetup for anyone who publishes web content at the University to share good practice and learn about content design.

About this meetup

This is a monthly session run by the User Experience Service.

It's for anyone who publishes web content at the University. That includes publishing to:

  • University websites, whether they run on EdWeb or another platform
  • internal websites such as SharePoint
  • virtual learning environments such as Learn

We alternate between online and in-person sessions. Online sessions are not typically recorded.

The aim of these meetups is to share good practice and learn about content design. When you sign up, we'll invite you to submit a page from your site that you'd like to work on with others in the session. You can still attend if you don't want to submit a page.

You can read about previous sessions on our blog:

How to run a usability test

Date: Tuesday 26 May 2026

Time: 11am to 12pm

Place: Microsoft Teams

Usability testing is a research method that helps you to learn about how easy it is for people to use your website. In a usability test, participants complete tasks using your pages while you sit on the sidelines and watch. It can be a useful way to identify elements of your site that you might want to change.

In this session, you’ll learn how to:

  • write an effective usability testing script
  • run your own usability test
  • use what you learn from testing to make changes to your content

We’ll provide resources that you can use to run a test, and you’ll have a chance to work with others to practise analysing usability test observations. By the end of the session, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to carry out a usability test on websites that you work on.

This is an interactive session so we’re limiting this to a maximum of 20 people. We would encourage you to join from somewhere you can have your mic on if possible.
