Content Improvement Club

A regular meetup for anyone who publishes web content at the University to share good practice and learn about content design.

About this meetup

This is a monthly session run by the User Experience Service.

It's for anyone who publishes web content at the University. That includes publishing to:

  • University websites, whether they run on EdWeb or another platform
  • Internal websites such as SharePoint
  • Virtual Learning Environments such as Learn

We alternate between online and in-person sessions.

The aim of these meetups is to share good practice and learn about content design. When you sign up, we'll invite you to submit a page from your site that you'd like to work on with others in the session. You can still attend if you don't want to submit a page.

You can read about previous sessions on our blog:

Using headings and links to make your content more accessible

Date: Tuesday 24 March 2026

Time: 2pm to 3pm

Place: Online only (Microsoft Teams)

Clear headings and descriptive link text are the bread-and-butter of good digital content. They help users process information and support navigation for people using assistive technology. Using headings and links properly reduces ambiguity and makes it easier for everyone to move confidently through your content.

However, findings from WebAIM’s annual survey show that missing headings and vague links remain key barriers for screen reader users.

In this session, you’ll learn some simple principles you can apply to your content that will help make it more accessible. You’ll have a chance to work on your content with other publishers and share suggestions on how to improve the headings and links on your pages.

This is an interactive session so we’re limiting this to a maximum of 20 people. We would encourage you to join from somewhere you can have your mic on.

These sessions are delivered by the User Experience Service. They’re for anyone who publishes web content at the University, whether that’s on a departmental website or on an intranet site.
